VOB/B explained simply
The VOB/B is a set of rules for construction contracts in Germany. It applies if the parties have incorporated it into the contract.
What it regulates
Execution of the work, acceptance (Abnahme), payment, Abschlagsrechnungen, changes in quantities, deadlines and warranty questions.
How it differs from the BGB construction contract
The BGB applies by default. The VOB/B is a contractual supplement that describes construction practice in more detail but also requires disciplined documentation.
